Life in a Dictatorship

Learn more about life in the GDR and in other dictatorships through six works of art. In their paintings, the artists address state repression, restrictions on artistic expression and freedom of opinion, and how the Berlin Wall placed limitations on freedom of movement. The artists also acknowledge the courageous people who acted against the repression – you’ll get to know a few interesting individuals.
