Karin Velmanns is a German artist. No more is known about her. She painted an untitled combative scene in the East Side Gallery, depicting a figure attacking another with a sword.
At the centre of Velmann’s Wall painting we see a figure attacking another with a sword. Blood spurting from the victim blends with the yellow background, resembling fire. Other, seemingly indifferent, faces can be seen surrounding them. The sword-carrier is perhaps the Archangel Michael who according to Christian tradition killed the devil in the shape of a dragon.
