Rodolfo Ricalo was born in Havana (Cuba) in 1961. He is a graphic and communication designer. No more is known about him. His painting “Vorsicht” (Caution) in the East Side Gallery addresses the negative consequences of political decisions for the environment and people’s lives and appeals to viewers to fight abuses of power.
Ricalo’s painting “Vorsicht” in the East Side Gallery shows a formation of geometric shapes, which stand for the victims of political decisions. A black and blue area, pierced by a black triangle, symbolises power without awareness. Ricalo’s painting calls on the public to combat abuses of power before they cause harm to the natural environment and human lives. Originally the background was grey and black to create a stronger contrast between the two sides of the painting.
